Planning Checklist

Planning a wedding can be very stressful and overwhelming with so many things to do and organise, as anybody that have been married can attest to. Here is a suggested list of what to do when, in order to plan your wedding successfully. This list is by no means exhaustive and the idea is simply to give you an indication of what you should be attending to as you approach your big day.

Of course, hiring a wedding coordinator will free up your valuable time to concentrate on the more enjoyable aspects of the wedding arrangements. Let us do the running around for you, ensuring that you look and feel your best when you walk down the isle.

6-12 months before the wedding

  • Announce the engagement;
  • Set a wedding date and time;
  • Determine a budget;
  • Book your wedding coordinator;
  • Book your reception venue;
  • Book your ceremony venue;
  • Start compiling a guest list;
  • Book honeymoon and check travel arrangements.

6 months before the wedding

  • Select a caterer;
  • Select a florist;
  • Select a cake maker;
  • Book a photographer and/or videographer;
  • Choose your attendants;
  • Select a dress designer or start shopping for a dress;
  • Select musicians and entertainment;
  • Finalise theme and colour scheme;
  • Finalise guest list;
  • Start working on invitations;
  • Compile wedding gift list.

1-3 months before the wedding

  • Groom starts planning his and his attendants’ attire;
  • Reserve hired equipment;
  • Buy wedding rings;
  • Purchase gifts for bridal party;
  • Finalise all legal agreements;
  • Choose accessories for bride and her attendants;
  • Send out invitations;
  • Attend final dress fittings;
  • Submit preliminary guest list to caterers;
  • Choose hymns, readings and music;
  • Finalise menu with caterers;
  • Confirm honeymoon and travel arrangements;
  • Arrange accommodation for guests travelling from afar;
  • Choose gifts for attendants.

1-3 weeks before the wedding

  • Give final guest count to caterer;
  • Finalise the seating plan;
  • Bride to collect dress;
  • Groom to collect tux;
  • Confirm delivery time with florist, baker and hiring companies;
  • Confirm final arrangements with photographer, videographer and musicians;
  • Go for practice hairstyling and make-up;
  • Have a full rehearsal at the ceremony venue;
  • Arrange for name changes;
  • Start packing for honeymoon.

The day before

  • Pack for honeymoon;
  • Lay out wedding dress and all accessories;
  • Finalise reception venue decorations;
  • Deliver honeymoon luggage to reception venue.

On the day

  • Eat a substantial breakfast;
  • Try to have a massage or relaxing beauty treatment;
  • Attend all your appointments;
  • Decorate cars if required;
  • Have fun and enjoy all the attention and pampering
